The Vision
Self described as Electronic Dance with an Edge, Provision was formed in November of 2000.
Born from the ashes of Industrial Dance/EBM acts - Underground Network Intelligence (U-N-I) and Wraith.
With 10 years of experience in former electronic acts; Provision infuses classic progressive dance with industrial dance & synthpop.
Constantly crossing genres and pushing boundaries with passionate, aggressive songs of lust, love, society, and humanity;
filled with pure dance floor emotion, non stop energy, and lyrics that tug at the heart.
Provision has crafted what can only be called "The Provision Sound". Truly a formula all their own.
At barely over a year old, Provision performed at Synthcon 2002 where they won "Best New U.S. Artist" in the American
Synthpop Awards; thus solidifying their name and sound in the American Synthpop Scene. Since then, Provision has become
known as one of the hardest working electronic acts in America; due to their relentless self promotion and dedication to
performing live shows with energy, frequency, and winning new fans wherever they go.
Provision has also become known as a staple supporting act in the electronic music scene opening for Red Flag, Anything Box,
Cosmicity, Imperative Reaction, The Human League, Faith Assembly, Leiahdorus, Cause & Effect, Cut Rate Box, Voice Industrie,
Icon of Coil, System Syn, The Cruxshadows, Assemblage 23, God Module, CTRL, B!Machine, Cesium_137, and Solemn Assembly,
just to name a few.
With 90 live performances, 2 U.S. Tours, and numerous regional tours under their belt since April of 2001;
the dedication to their fans is evident.
Evaporate
Provision self released their first E.P. - Innocence in March of 2002. It was limited to only 100 copies.
They sold an amazing 65 copies at Gothcon 2002, the day it was released. It sold out in May of 2002,
only having been out 2 months and no distribution except the bands live shows.
Due to non label interest in the spring, Provision self released their debut album "Evaporate" in May of 2002. Evaporate was
mastered and guided by synthpop pioneers Red Flag.
Provision quickly drew comparisons to Information Society, Anything Box, Icon Of Coil and Moskwa T.V.,
as their debut album burst onto the scene.
Evaporate premiered the Provision message and sound through intense vocals, intricate analog programming,
and expressive percussion. It was even said to be the album Red Flag could have put out after Naive Art.
With Evaporate, an album of love, heartache, and emotional dance floor energy was born.
Tracks such as "My Only Question, Breathe, Sacrifice, and December Morning"; have dominated numerous club, college and independent
radio D.J.'s play lists since it's release and continue to be spun to this day.
Evaporate was listed at #44 in the Top 100 best sellers on A Different Drum's website for 2003.
Quite a feat for an unsigned electronic act, but due largely to Provision's relentless promotion and touring.
Provision sold more than 2000 copies of Evaporate in just 2 years, re-issued it in September 2004 and it has again sold out as of Early 2006.
In March of 2003 - Provision embarked on their Evaporate U.S. Tour, and self released their 2nd E.P. - Devotion.
Limited to 100 Copies, it sold more than 80 in only 2 weeks on the road and by mid 2003 Provision had completed 1 national,
and 2 regional U.S tours in support of their releases Evaporate and Devotion.
Visualize
In November of 2003, with 3 pending record deals on the table; Provision was honored to license their 2nd album - Visualize
for release with U.S. label A Different Drum. The album was delayed due to circumstances beyond Provision's control, and not
released until September of 2004. But the delay to the fans, was offset by a Limited Edition release of 1500 copies featuring a
2nd disc with Remixes and Bonus tracks.
Visualize expanded on Provision's signature sound, picking up where Evaporate left off, pushing the boundaries of emotion
and longing, even further. Filled with songs that tug harder at the heart, than on any previous efforts released.
Performing tracks from their 2nd album Visualize, along with hits from their debut album Evaporate; Provision once again took
their music to the masses. With their self booked, self promoted, 2 month Visualize U.S. Tour in December 2004 / January 2005
Provision took the U.S. by storm. Visualize continued to make waves as reviews, interviews, and playlists justified what was called
Provision's best work ever!!!
The Consequence
In spite of success, it has not been easy. Provision has faced many obstacles as a band.
Provision has always performed as many live parts as possible on stage. They've constantly fought against the stigma that
many electronic acts face as credible musicians who really perform Live. Provision's opposition of Synth bands who prefer to perform
"Fake To DAT" shows, has often caused controversy in online forums and open debates. But no matter what some other acts
choose to do, Provision will always stand behind the fact that it is a band in every since of the word.
Ultimately, retaining serious band members who want to tour, write music, contribute, and be a part of Provision full time; has
hindered Provision's progress including it's releases. But despite the trials and tribulations they have faced, Provision realizes
that this happens to many bands. With each hurdle they overcome, they grow stronger and more determined than before.
Provision sadly lost founding member Leslie Hyman in September of 2005, to demanding career and lifestyle changes that no longer allowed
her to be a part of the magic she helped create. Provision leaves her Bio here on the Official website as a reminder to all who knew her, and
the fans who never got a chance to. We miss you Leslie.
September 2005 became the most uncertain time ever for Provision as Breye questioned the ending of the group.
Through his personal advisors who've been there at every curve in the road, and realizing that Jen Foxx, and Carlos Covarrubias
were now at the foundation of Provision; the decision to carry on was obvious.
After turning down 2 new offers for a 3rd album release, in November of 2005; Provision formed new U.S. label Section 44 Records with
fellow U.S. electronic bands Tristraum, and Eloquent.
As Provision continued to invade dance floors, college and independent radio, live stages, and the hearts of fans across the world since the
release of their debut E.P. "Innocence" in 2002; they then unleashed their 3rd and final album on March 11th 2006. The wait was over, the
Trilogy was complete, The Consequence was here!
The End
On August 21st 2007 at 1:19 pm CST, Provision came to an end.
What follows are the events that led up to that event.
Despite upcoming scheduled shows with Assemblage 23 and talk of a new single and album by years end, Breye's discussions
with each band member began to result in something he had felt in his heart for quite some time.
On Sunday August 5th 2007, Provision Keyboardist and Percussionist - Randon Harris decided to leave the
band in order to focus all of his efforts towards his own band. He also stated that while he loved to perform
Live with Provision, his heart was just not in it to write music for the band; or to travel on the road anymore.
Breye stated "We shall always remain friends, and I wish him all the success in the world with his project - P for Flamingos."
On Wednesday August 15th 2007, Provision Keyboardist and Percussionist - Jen Foxx, cast her vote to end Provision
due to an ever growing desire to move forward with other projects.
On Tuesday August 21st 2007 a meeting was called with the last remaining Provision member, Live Bassist
Carlos Covarrubias; to see if it was possible to pull off Live performances or even carry on with Provision at all.
After more than an hour of discussion, and not seeing any possible way to move forward, the decision to end Provision was made.
Tragedy
In the 7 years Provision existed, there had been more than a handful of tragedies that made Breye question the future of the band...
In Breye's words..
"When Keyboardist / Vocalist Matt Coker left in 2001, it was the goal of Finishing "Evaporate" that kept us going.
When we had to let Vocalist / Keyboardist Alex Virlios go in August of 2003, it was Carlos Covarrubias and a record
contract from A Different Drum that saved us. And when Carlos moved away in August of 2004 it was the offer to tour from Jen Foxx and
Randon Harris that made me move forward."
Deep down though, it truly began to die within Breye's heart when Leslie Hyman left the band in September of 2005. But when
she left, there were already new songs and material Jen Foxx and Breye were working on, and it was inevitable that The Consequence
become the final chapter in the Provision trilogy.
Breye wrote the very last song on The Consequence - "Everytime" about Leslie, when she took her leave of
absence from the band to start her Medical Career. He had no clue how it would ultimately sum up the end
of the band itself, but somehow it did. The truth was that Breye could never see doing it without her. And in his own words,
"I miss her very much, but if not for Leslie... Provision would never have been."
Reflecting Back
Since November of 2000, Provision had an incredible run. They'd come further than anyone ever could have imagined.
It could not have happened without each band member who was a part of the group.
It also could not have been done without the staff at Red Square Digital, and the Record Labels – Todd Durrant at A Different Drum, and
Randall, Steven & Pierre at Section 44. Their belief in Provision, allowed the music to be released to the world.
But most of all, Provision owes it's success to all of the wonderful fans who have supported them over the years.
To each and every one of you, Provision extends it's love and gratitude.
Final Words
"I leave with a smile in my heart and a tear in my eye, knowing that I said everything I ever wanted to say; and we
achieved everything we ever set out to do. Not many bands can say that in the end, but as we close the Trilogy of Evaporate,
Visualize, and The Consequence... I will always be honored to have been a part of what was Provision.
Thank You all for an incredible 7 years!!!
