December Morning      124 bpm                    MP3 Sample

The taste of flesh, on the lips of vengeance. You’re heartless soul.
Without repentance. The smell of skin, on desire and lust.
Understanding now, there is no trust.

We slip into decline. Can you see inside my mind? I knew there’d be
no warning. This December Morning. This is now my time. I’m leaving
you behind. Another day is dawning. This December morning.

Turn the lights down low, let the candles melt. You have no one to
blame, except yourself. From me you’ll feel, no more compassion.
Nothing here, can change what’s happened.

December Morning was written while I was living in Austin, Texas in
2000. It was one of the demos I gave Leslie when she was driving up
to see me, that convinced her we should start a new band.

It was originally rumored that I wrote this song about my ex-fiance
but the song is actually a fictional story I wrote for myself as a
Christmas Present in 2000.

This song is about a lover who cheats, and then asks forgiveness
only to believe that forgiveness has been given. Instead though, the
cheating lover is dumped on Christmas Day in the ultimate form of
retribution for infidelity.

From the minute I completed this first demo of this song, I knew it
would be the perfect ending to our debut album Evaporate. It was
always our closing song in our live sets from our debut show in 2001
to late 2004 when it was replaced by Flood of Emotion.
